For 20 years, it has been operating at the Faculty of Law and Administration as a part of the network. The Help Desk represents a wide range of matters such as civil law (including family law), criminal law, employment law, civil proceedings, and administrative law.
The scope of counselling may be characterized as diversified and pertaining to the given fields of law. For example, advice may regard: liability for a committed criminal offence; legal remedies on the basis of civil or criminal law; parental authority and childcare provision; termination of a permanent employment contract; an appeal against an administrative decision or legal remedies vested in an individual towards a decision/ruling shaping their legal situation.
Rules for provision of legal support by the University Legal Help Desk
Article 1
The Help Desk shall run only the cases of people whose financial situation is not sufficient to cover the costs of payable legal aid.
Article 2
Legal advice provided within the framework of the Help Desk shall be prepared by a student at the sole risk of the applicant. If a damage arose, as a result of providing advice or lack thereof, any compensation liability of the Nicolaus Copernicus University, its employees and students shall be excluded unless the damage was caused intentionally.
Article 3
Advice provided within the framework of the University Legal Help Desk shall be prepared only in writing.
Article 4
The Help Desk shall not run the cases in which a professional operator represents the Client.
Article 5
The Help Desk reserves the right to withdraw advice at any time.
Article 6
The Help Desk reserves the right to the collection and use of the Client’s personal data for the activities of the clinic.
Article 7
The student or employee of the Help Desk shall not have the right to refuse to testify in cases run by the Help Desk. They shall also not have the right to refuse to answer questions put by the court, prosecutor, or other authorized body.
Article 8
The Client may inform the Board of the Legal Clinics Foundation (5/5 Szpitalna Street, 00-31 Warsaw) about the legal support provided.
